E-PROCUREMENT

AVAL uses the Beacon 406 e-Procurement System for all tenders required within projects. Our e-Procurement System provides the benefits including the dedicated web supplier portal, centralized document management with strong audit trail, fair, transparent and accountable electronic bidding, vendor management and contract management.

FIELD SERVICES

AVAL focuses on delivering key timely on-site services for the construction of facilities. We use the latest of technology incorporating drones for aerial reviews of the right-of-way, access and structure particulars. Our field services include review of the structures installations, bolt torque and missing parts, foundation steel and concrete pours as well as deficiency lists.

Escobedo_Project

The Escobedo Project – Mexico

AVAL’s CANIMEX INGENIERIA S.A. DE C.V. subsidiary is operating in Mexico, and has a long term strategy to provide the same range of services as AVAL does in Canada.

AVAL was awarded a substation project on the S.E. Escobedo Bco. 4, located in Nuevo Leon in July 2015. This project will start in August 2015.

The Escobedo Substation 400kV is currently in commercial operation. This brownfield project consists of three single phase transformers 125 MVA and the construction of twenty feeders in 115 kV. The work includes procurement, project management and construction of the facility. The Escobedo Substation is located in the Monterrey area at the municipality of El Carmen, in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon.

The Iskut Extension Project – H37P Transmission Line

AVAL was selected by H37P, a subsidiary of Imperial Metals, as Owner’s Engineer to manage the design, construction, completion and commissioning of the Iskut Extension Project – H37P Transmission Line in British Columbia.

The Iskut Extension Project entailed construction of a 287kV Transmission Line from Bob Quinn to Tatogga, a distance of approximately 95 kilometers. The line was built with a combination of guyed and self-supported lattice structures with the conductor bundle Mica, with a 24 fiber composite Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) and overhead shield wire (OHSW).

The Red Chris Transmission Line

AVAL was selected by Red Chris Mine as Owner’s Engineer for the design, construction completion and commissioning of the Red Chris Mine Transmission Line in British Columbia.

This new 287kV single circuit transmission line starts at the BC Hydro Tatogga substation and travels approximately 16km to the Red Chris Mine substation. The line was built on wood pole structures. This line traversed terrain varying from flat lands to mountains at 1500m above sea level. Helicopter construction was used for material transport and line pulling.

SNC-Lavalin – Tower footing enclosures design, supply and installation

AVAL provided the design, procurement, storage and installation of cattle guard enclosures for approximately 500 tower sites that formed part of the CBW Transmission Project located between the towns of Brooks, Medicine Hat and Taber, Alberta. Totalling 250km of transmission line, these enclosures were required for environmental reasons, avoiding the exposure of the natural ground to collect weeds.

For this “un-common” scope of work, AVAL Engineering investigated the market and potential applications to create a design that would address the technical and environmental concerns of the project. The recommended design, while being true to the functional design, has also been accepted throughout the oil & gas industry in Alberta and Saskatchewan to protect both capital assets and livestock. In addition, by using this design, we achieved material cost efficiencies that were reflected in AVAL Engineering’s total project price.
